Derrick Horton and the Jay Street Band

After a 34-year hiatus, in March of 2012 Dr. Derrick "Doc" Horton decided it's never too late to realize his dream. He returned to his first love, music.

He performed in singing groups throughout his high school and college years in his hometown of Norfolk, VA.

After graduating from Norfolk State University he put his music career on the shelf to pursue a Ph.D. at Penn State and became a college professor and public sociologist.

A Professor of Sociology at the State University of New York at Albany, Dr. Horton is a talented singer, songwriter, and producer.

Now he is realizing his dream of building a multi-media company:   HDH Entertainment. The foundation of that company is his Motown-style party band: Derrick Horton and the Jay Street Band.

Along with himself (Derrick) on lead vocals the band also features Phil Auclaire (drums), Greg Henderson (guitar), Derek Westcott (keyboards), Doug Dales (bass), and Chris Duffy (bass). "Derrick's Angels" consist of female vocalists Carmen Lookshire and Aspenne Rhoden.

Derrick Horton and the Jay Street Band bring their pop/R&B/funk flavored “Motown and More” show to audiences throughout the Northeast.
